It was the holiday season 2009 when my husband, Jerry, and I first walked into Mountainsong Galleries in Carmel-By-The-Sea. We had been invited to the gallery by my husband’s son David so we could visit with Nicole Pratt again, a friend of the family, and to listen to the Christmas Carols being sung. We were warmly greeted by Nicole, who is the Marketing Specialist, and introduced to the gallery’s owners Lucinda & Jonathan. They made us feel right at home in their lovely gallery by their truly gracious manner.
Even though I was surrounded by lovely paintings, sketches, and other unique creations, what caught my eye instantly was an aerial photograph of Cathedral Rock in Sedona, Arizona. I wandered around, sang Christmas Carols, but I still kept going back to the photograph over and over again.
This beautiful photograph was done by Mr. William Scherer, one of the finest aerial landscape photographers in the country. Nicole informed me that Mr. Scherer has special clearance to fly in otherwise restricted fly zones so he can take his marvelous photographs.
His photograph of Cathedral Rock has special significance for me with many happy memories of Arizona since I was a child and those of my grown daughter spending her own happy years there with her husband and my grandchildren.
My father first fell in love with Arizona when he was stationed there during WWII. Like Mr. Scherer he too was a pilot. They also shared the love of photography. My father was a very good amateur photographer. If he had been able to take photographs from one of the bombers he flew, he would have done it.
I can’t help but wonder if Dad was Mr. Scherer’s co-pilot when my beautiful picture was taken.

Lucinda and Jonathan of Mountainsong Galleries are some of the nicest people I have ever had the pleasure of doing business with (and it really was a pleasure!). Their customer service is the best anywhere and they are always patient and friendly. Even their dog, Mr. Bo Jangles, is great...friendly without being distracting.
From the very first time that I visited their gallery, I have been treated like a VIP and even when I changed my mind and bought a different painting at the very last possible second, they were nothing but gracious. Tom and I both personally want to thank you for the wonderful experiences we have had at Mountainsong Galleries. We love the portrait of our precious Shih Tzu "Oreo" that LeAnna Tuff completed. We are so impressed with how welcoming everyone makes us feel at the gallery and we love to stop in on a regular basis to visit and browse the vast selection of art work.
We were especially impressed that LeAnna created a completely new portrait of Oreo just because you sensed that we were not 100% thrilled with the first one. While the first portrait was fabulous, it wasn’t quite how we saw Oreo. We would have accepted the first portrait but Jonathan insisted that he wanted us to be thrilled, now and six months from now. We originally stopped by Mountainsong Galleries because I read an article in a local magazine regarding Mr. Bo Jangles - the Mountainsong's dog - and I wanted to meet him. While there we saw some portraits by LeAnna Tuff and really liked her work so we asked her to create a portrait of Murphy, our Coton de Tulear. We love the portrait! It turned out beautifully. It looks just like our boy - it really captures his look and personality.
LeAnna created the painting exactly like the photograph we supplied. We did decide that we would like a minor adjustment and she and the Mountainsongs cheerfully accommodated our request. The Mountainsongs wanted to make sure we were absolutely happy with the portrait and the process. They even kept us informed of the details of the delivery process.
We love the portrait and the customer service was above and beyond anything one normally experiences these days. We'd be happy to speak to anyone who is considering working with LeAnna or the Mountainsongs.
By the way, Mr. Bo Jangles is a sweetie.
